Cooking Channel

  • Role: Information architecture
  • Interaction design
  • Creative direction

Cooking Channel is dedicated to people who love food. Owned by Scripps Networks (who also owns Food Network) the Cooking Channel is intended to feature more cooking and offer a wider array of the culinary palette than its sister network. When this website was created, I was the team leader on the project. I worked with an agency to construct the overall architecture of the new site and helped direct the visual design. As part of my work on the project, I created a new interaction design for photo galleries that was later adopted across all the Scripps Networks family of websites, including HGTV.com and FoodNetwork.com.

With "Celebrate", we created a space in the navigation specifically to highlight seasonally relevant areas of the site, including holidays, food related events and in season ingredients.

Food is obviously important for this site, but it also needs to highlight the chefs and experts who bring the food to life.
